Deposits

I love www.flickr.com. It's filled with inspiration and creativity. Take a look at the above photo titled, "A Wonderful Day :0)" (click the photo to be led to the photographers "photostream.") Read the text on the drawing, look at the simplicity... a drawing of what is right in front of their eyes. Brilliant, just brilliant.

I think we often feel we need amazing inspiration in order to create, when all we really need is to slow for a moment, open our eyes and see all that is around us. Then draw it, paint it, photograph is, write about it. These little exercises make valuable deposits into our "creative banks."

I keep a sketch pad in my car and tiny spiral notebook in my purse so I'm ready when ever inspiration strikes. After an experience yesterday (totally kicking myself for not having my dSLR camera with me!) I am going to begin carrying my old "point and shoot" digital camera so that I can capture scenes that need to be remembered.

Inspiration is all around us. God created this huge amazing world. His creativity is longing to be captured by our creativity. Even the simplicity of sitting at Starbucks, walking in your favorite park, watching your kids frolic in the yard, or sitting in the airport waiting for your flight are places to be inspired to create.
