Little Words

Several years ago I purchased a Magnetic Poetry set for my younger son who is a budding artist. I purchased the optional black metal board so he could begin his career of assembling words together in harmony. Over time, many words were sucked up the hose of my vacuum cleaner. The few remaining words and black metal board were eventually stuffed deep under his bed...until recently. I was excited to find this treasure! Dusting them off, I began placing words together with precision. I was hooked!

Quickly I determined I needed to replace the missing word magnets so I ventured through the rain today and ended up at Borders Bookstore (where I originally purchased the set for my son). I had saved my 20% off coupon specifically for those little magnetic words. However, I was disappointed to find out they no longer carry them. I was forced to use my coupon on (another) fabulous book on writing (I can't remember the title and I'm too lazy to get the book. I'll mention it in another post.)

As one might do in this situation, I headed to the world wide web. Googled, "Magnetic Poetry" and now I have several kits in my online "cart" just waiting interact with the long line of numbers on my credit card. While perusing their fun site, I came across something I wanted to share with you. Check this out: Online Poetry Kits. You can play with the words online AND you can even submit your own poetry.

Sometimes when writing, I lock up because there are so many words to choose from! With these little magnetic words, you have to work with what you have. Normally, I don't enjoy working "inside a box," but with these kits, it forces my creative mind to kick into high gear! I can't wait to receive my new kits (I only ordered two: Artistic and the Green words).

I hope playing the online Magnetic Poetry spurs your playful and creative side.

This is SO COOL!! Thanks Dee for posting the online site. The first experience I had with these was in Washington DC at a confernce I attended on Addictions. The place we stayed had a refrigerator with all these words and the owner asked the guests to assemble, b4 leaving, words that had some relation to thier stay...it was very cool!
Thanks Again for the reminder!
Love ya,
Jane

This was cool, but a bit frustrating.
When I write, it pours out of me. I don't really have control over it. I just write. And, usually, have a feeling of peace/ relief when I do. Then there is the scary part of "should I actually share this with anyone?" So far, my sharing has been well received... but I'm always a bit nervous.
