The War Inside
Obvious to some, and not to others
Is the war inside each
Battles are won, battles are lost
Who will win this war?
Daily I am torn & struggling
Conflicts abound in me
I know this too well
Two sides are raging inside me
One is pure evil, corrupt and unjust
Loving hate, destruction, self indulgence,
Deceit, lies, lust, greed and unforgiveness.
For me sometimes subtle and elusive
Making me think it is me
But I can choose
Why does this side win some battles?
Shamefully, perhaps my pride
The other side is pure love, restful and refreshing
Loving peace, justice, truth, joy,
Selflessness, kindness and forgiveness
For me this is the side I long to prevail
I can choose
Why does this side win some battles?
Perhaps my humbleness
This is real life hidden in each of us……
Without exception
Unseen, unspoken, unheard
No clanging of sword and shield
No gun shots or physical wounds
Just felt and sensed,
and most often not fully understood
We love to deny this, but life goes on…..
Which side will win the war inside?
This is yet to be known, but
I can choose…….I hold the key…….
It is the one I feed
Obvious to some, and not to others
Is the war inside each
Battles are won, battles are lost
Who will win this war?
Daily I am torn & struggling
