Mike Merica here. I couldn't agree more. To sell what you create is like "icing on the cake." But I personally do what I do for the love of it. Period. Even though I've only sold a few of my works in the pass few years, I am convinced, the older I get that this is what I was meant to do in life. This, to me, isn't a job or work --- it is my passion! I want to leave this with you, something I read, that I think says it all about any form of art. "A good painting draws us in, leads us on a journey and fills us with emotion and thought." How True! Two words I keep in mind when I am creating any painting or drawing. Emotionally Captivating. If your work is going to capture a viewers attention, it has to be just that.
of course, mr. hirst sells his work by the truckload...
