Unexpected Inspiration

There are times when I'm unexpectedly inspired - when I see ordinary objects in extraordinary ways. Such as the photo above. As I passed through my darkened dinning room on the way to the kitchen, I noticed how the lone flickering candle casted a dancing shadow on the wall behind the word art, "inspire." It was pretty cool to me. So I ran upstairs, grabbed my camera and tripod then returned to the source of my inspiration. My husband watched me remove the distracting items from the area, set my shots, then just shook his head as if saying, "that's my wife, always 'seeing' things."

Not always, though. Most of the time, I'm sad to say, I walk right past amazing shots or inspiration. Too busy to slow down or to even notice. Beauty surrounds us, sometimes, in the most unexpected places ~ I'm thankful that my eyes were illuminated this evening by the mysterious movement of candle light. For a few moments, my creativity peaked out from under the surface of my daily routine and human need. What a gift ~ that small space when time seemed to stand still and there was just me, my camera and my inquisitive husband watching me out of the corner of his eye with that smirk on his lips.

May we notice the small gifts that enter our sphere. They call us to slow down, observe, and be inspired. You never know what you'll see...
