Trying Too Hard

Straining to hear,
she turns off the music.
Still, unable to hear,
she closes the window
to block out the sounds of life below.

Concentrating so hard,
she longs to hear His voice.
But, instead a 1000 other voices interrupt.
Agendas, to do lists, and should have done lists.
She intentionally tries to ignore them.

Feeling defeated and disappointed,
she determines He's not speaking.
So, she gives up the fight,
relaxes her tired ears...and suddenly...
she hears.
