There are Three Preachers of the Gospel Here: St. Francis and St. Dominic (Who Are In the Picture) and Fra Angelico (The Catholic Artist Who Painted It)
I came across this post on the blog, Catholic Phoenix. The post is called "Preaching the Gospel with Catholic Art." I'm a very visual person and art works powerfully in helping me understand a concept, idea, thought, or feeling. Art is one way I hear God speaking to me in His still small voice; through viewing art and creating art myself. A picture stays in my mind and buries itself in the chambers of my heart in a way that words cannot. That is the reason why, I'm sure, I'm so passionate about art and creativity being an intimate pathway of encountering God, the Creator. I'd love to see more art (religious in nature and not) created by the gifted artists, in our church families, hanging on the very walls of our places of worship. Are you an artist? Sure you are. Maybe a "closet artist"? I know many of you. I'm one myself. Just imagine how God could use our talents and gifts if we opened ourselves to Him and created Spirit inspired art... what impact could it have on you? On those who engage your work? Someone just may have an encounter with God through your art work. How awesome would that be...
